Trust services

A trust is a legally binding agreement which transfers the ownership of property from an individual (the settlor) to a body (the trustees) which is in under an obligation to deal with the trust property over which it has control for the benefit of the beneficiaries. The trust deed sets out the terms of the trust.

The main uses of an offshore trust include:

  • The holding of private wealth and the protection of assets;
  • The retaining of property within a family for future generations thus minimising the impact of inheritance taxes;
  • The provision of funds for the needs of children and of the elderly and infirm;
  • The minimisation of national taxes;
  • The confidentiality of family and other arrangements; and
  • The establishment of employee share schemes.

There are number of forms of trust. At Baccata our experience and professional expertise mean we are in an ideal position to advise on the correct form for a particular situation. We can act as trustees, and we can provide efficient administrative and reporting services so that the trust complies with Jersey Trust Law.
